In the grounds we have a traditional Normandy bread oven known as a Boulangerie, which, unlike many in the region, is in a reasonable state of repair. In times past, the bread for the household was baked here. We have resisted suggestions to 'turn it into a gite' and have retained it as a working kitchen. Our local french friends are surprised and pleased that we are preserving their heritage!

We regularly use the oven for cooking and have had great success with wedding cakes, goose, turkey, cakes and of course, the local speciality teurgoule a traditionaal Normandie rice pudding.

We (and our friends) have had so much fun, we thought others might enjoy the experience. We offer our guests the opportunity of a morning activity -definitely hands on- culminating in eating your home baked lunch!

You will learn how to make 'fagots' for burning and how to fire a traditional wood burning oven. You will make bread dough and use it to bake bread, brioche and pizzas, which we'll all wash down with a glass of La Boutinais cider. You'll also have the opportunity to make 'Teurgoule' to cook on the embers overnight.

The cost of this activity is 30€ per couple. We'll provide all the ingredients and the savoir faire. You'll just need to be up for a 9am start and be prepared to eat the fruits of your labours for lunch!
